Dr. Peter Raven

An American botanist who, during the past twenty years, has turned the Missouri Botanical Garden into a major centre of environmental conservation programmes, especially for developing tropical countries.

He uses radio, TV and lobbying to further the environmental cause. He is a recipient of the UNEP Gold Medal (1982).
