Michael I. Bloomfield
Michael I. Bloomfield is a wildlife biologist and environmental
educator. A Canadian citizen, his formal education background
consists of Merced College, Associate Agriculture 1971; Ohio
State University, Bachelor of Science 1974; University of Alberta,
Master of Science 1979. Michael is the founder and Executive
Director of the
Harmony Foundation of Canada, 1985.
He was a Regional Wildlife Biologist and Provincial Caribou
Specialist Alberta, Fish and Wildlife from 1978-83; teacher,
consultant, advisor environmental trends and programs; advisor/director
numerous charitable/professional organizations; Founder, Institute
Environmental Values Education - global education for educators
and community leaders, ECOmmunity - community training for sustainable
development, Green Works - workplace training for the environment,
Growing Up Green - environmental eduation for children, Building
Sustainable Societies Program - training for community leadership
for cooperative environmental action, Youth Vision - life and
work skills for young people through community service.
He is a recipient of the UN Global 500 Award presented at Earth
Summit, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in 1992; Environmental Leadership
Award (Green Print); 1994 Commonwealth Foundation Fellowship
and Ethics in Action Award for Lifetime Achievement (1998).
He is the author of/contributing editor for various publications,
including Home & Family Guide: Practical Action for the Environment
1989, Workplace Guide: Practical Action for the Environment
1992, and many more.
Michael is a member of Sigma Xi Foundation, Gamma Sigma Delta;
and Member of Governing Council Global 500 Forum, United Nations
Environmental Programme.
