Latest News from Globetree (2000 Laureate)

Dear Marilyn

The program with the 50 children of Globetree from Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania and Sweden together with the 50 children from the Tree Theatre Group of Malaysia became a great success! All 100 children performed Our Uniting Water Ceremony and made the audience sing Let us Join – You Can Count on US! – directly after the speech of the Vice President of Kenya.

The Minister of Environment from Sweden, Kenya and Algeria participated in the dialogue under the Children’s Tree together with the Ambassador of Malaysia a<nd many mayors. The Connected Dreams Sculpture of the Future Vessel at the WorldCiC in Stockholm was the welcome for all delegates at the entrance of the United Nations, Nairobi. Also the program of the UNEP Governing Council Meeting was called Connected Dreams.

All became a wonderful success!

We also had a meeting at the Mayors Parlour of Nairobi where the 5 hosts of the World Championship in Cooperation met and discussed future cooperation.

Deputy Mayor of Nairobi, Cllr. Ferdinard Ndungu Waititu was the host of the meeting.
Deputy Mayor of Kampala, Ms Namayanja Florence, who received the Glass Trophy at the Globe Arena from the Lord Mayor of Stockholm 2006 was there – host of WorldCiC 2008 and reported on the planning for the event which will take place around the World Environment Day 2008.

The Mayor of Morelia, Mexico, Mr. Salvador López Oruna – host of WorldCiC 2010 – will send a delegation to Kampala next year and will start the preparations for the WorldCiC 2010 already this year.

Mayor of Nairobi has agreed to be the host of WorldCiC 2012 and he will set up a Globetree Secretariat at the Nairobi City Council as soon as possible. He wants that secretariat to support Kampala WorldCiC.

Mr. Jes I. Izaidin, leader of the Tree Theatre Group Malaysia became very interested in the vision and work of the WorldCiC and he will bring the idea to the Mayor of Kuala Lumpur. He is convinced the Mayor will take the WorldCiC to heart and host the event 2014.

We had a very good meeting and all are determined to support one another!
Imagine 5 cities of the world working together to support one another!

I was deeply touched in my heart when we closed the meeting 5 hours later!

Marilyn – The World Championship in Cooperation has started it’s odyssey over the Globe and the message is urgent – the world needs to work together over all boundaries of age, cultures, nations, professions and interests to tackle the problems the world face today!

Lots of love to you Marilyn and all around you!
