Medasset  (1987 Laureate) becomes a UNEP/MAP Action Pan Partner

We are pleased to announce that at UNEP/MAP’s 9th Focal Points Meeting for SPAs, held in Malta, 3-6 of June 2009, the Contracting Parties granted MEDASSET the status of “Action Plan Partner”, together with INSTM (National Institute of Marine Sciences and Technologies, Tunisia); the Stazione Zoologica Anton Dohrn of Naples, Italy; EGA (Environment General Authority, Libya); and CWS (Cyprus Wildlife Society).  This status aims to encourage and reward organisations that contribute to the work of implementing the Mediterranean Action Plans of the Barcelona Convention.

We would also like to take this opportunity to inform you that our research programme “Monitoring and conservation of important sea turtle feeding grounds in the Patok Area of Albania” will start next week. The project will be running for the second consecutive year, having secured co-funding from GEF/SGP, RAC/SPA, UNEP/MAP and the British Chelonia Group.
