Teoh Cheng Hai
Mr. Teoh Cheng Hai is a founding member of the Governing Council
of the Global 500 Forum in June 1992 and was Vice -President
of the Forum from 1994 to 1996. He was involved in many of the
activities of the Forum and was the Chairman of the Organising
Committee of the 1st Global 500 Forum International Conference
on "Towards corporate Environmental Excellence: Challenges and
Opportunities in Asia Pacific" that was held from 17th to 20th
October, 1995 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Professionally, Mr. Teoh Cheng Hai is the Director, Quality
& Environment of Golden Hope Plantations Berhad. He is responsible
for spearheading the effective implementation of the Group's
policies and plans on total quality and environment management.
Prior to this appointment, he was the Director for Research
& Development from 1989 to June 1995 and Assistant Director
from 1978 - 1989. He has 31 years working experience in the
plantation industry, particularly in agronomy, plant protection,
quality and environment management and has published more than
40 papers and is co-editor of the book "Towards Corporate Environmental
Excellence - The Role of Business in Sustainable Development".
Mr. Teoh has served in many industry committees and professional
organisations. He is a member of the Malaysian National Committee
on Environmental Standards. He was a member of the Malaysian
delegation at the 3rd and 5th Plenary meetings of ISO/TC 207
on ISO 14000 Standards in Oslo in June 1995 and in Kyoto in
June 1997 respectively. He is a member of the Working Committee
of the Business Council for Sustainable Development Malaysia
(BCSDM) and the Chairman of BCSDM's Committee on Environmental
Management Systems.
